Dumfries Half

Dear Fellow Runners,
On Sunday September 26th 2010 Dumfries Running Club are proud to announce the 29th Dumfries Half marathon, one of the longest established road races in the country still organised by the same running club. The race kicks off with the skirl of the pipes at 11am at the Crichton campus on the edge of Dumfries and is an accurately measured, fully marshalled rural route that shows off the beautiful South West of Scotland at its best. The first third of the route is downhill towards the village of Bankend followed by a climb past halfway with stunning views of Criffel, a local landmark, and the final section is back via Kingholm Quay to the Macleod Pavilion where showers, changing, refreshments and a warm and friendly welcome will be available.

The Macleod pavilion (around one kilometre from the start) is where the prize giving will take place. Entries cost £12 for SAF members and £14 for others and entries will be available on the day at the Crichton for a £2 surcharge. Further details can be found on www.dumfriesrunningclub.org.uk  I look forward to seeing as many runners as possible on the 26th to help the Dumfries Half marathon continue to grow and develop

NORTH BERWICK LAW RACE - NEW PHOTOS!

What a beautiful way to spend a summer's evening.
A wee stroll down by the harbour to see the boats... a 99 cone... a stroll along the beach then up to the park. Followed by a few drinks in the Ship Inn and all rounded off with a big greasy Chip Roll for tea....
... well that's what I did anyway. Some runners decided to run up and down a muckle big hill in North Berwick. Some people will do anything for "fun".
Some photos of the evening are HERE.
Even more phots HERE.. pictures from Jim Herring, right at the top of the hill!
Results will no doubt follow later.

Coast Along

Hello,

My name's Paul Davidson and I'm a WaterAid volunteer in Scottish
Water. I'm writing to you to see if you're running group would be
interested in pledging your support to this years Coast Along for
WaterAid.

Coast Along aims to have teams of walkers or runners on all sections
of coastal path included in the event on Saturday 11th September 2010.

This year we need the support of even more walkers, ramblers and
runners to achieve our challenge: to get at least one team on all 187
sections of selected coastal paths throughout England, Wales and
Scotland to raise money for WaterAid. This is the fourth year of Coast
Along but the first time Scottish paths have been included in the
event, the Fife Coastal Path and the John Muir Way in East Lothian.

Fourteen regions in the UK have been divided into 187 sections of
between four and 15 miles in length. Each section is graded as easy,
moderate, strenuous or severe, so you can choose a path that suits
your level of fitness. There is something for everybody: for families,
ramblers, long-distance walkers and even marathon runners.

If you would like to discuss or need more information please click on
the web link below or alternatively contact me via e-mail or on
07875872299.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.
