The route for the 2010 Belhaven Best Dunbar 10k, to be held on 3rd April, has now been decided.
It's hoped that this route, mainly on quiet country roads, will offer runners an enjoyable run.

Please note that this years race will have a new route (map to follow soon). The new route will reduce the need for road crossings and drastically reduce the time spent in built up areas.
The race starts at 11am at Hallhill Healthy Living Centre in Dunbar, where there are great changing and showering facilities.

scottishathletics is pleased to confirm that Chair Frank Dick and Head Coach Laurier Primeau and the relevant Regional Athletics Manager will be attending some or all of the Town Hall visits around Scotland as advertised in December.
Member coaches, athletes, administrators and public sector partner organisations are welcome to attend at any of the venues.
Please indicate by emailing email@example.com if you intend to come along, at least 48 hours before the event.
The Town Hall meetings will give members the chance to input to two of the most recently appointed and most senior personnel within scottishathletics on their views on the opportunities presented to the sport in the countdown to London 2012 and 2014 and raise some of the main issues impacting on athletics at club and regional level.

This is an ideal opportunity for a weekend trip and a chance to get to run along this route.
Happy New Year to you and the rest of the Dunbar crew.
Regarding the proposed relay challenge over the West Highland Way I am looking at the weekend of 10 -11 July. It means an early 4am start for the initial leg runners but this is the only way we can comfortably fit in the whole route so that we are able to get to the evening accommodation and have a meal and a few drinks (and brag about the day's activities). Last year we started at 4am and finished just about 8pm.
There would probably be about 12 stages and I propose that we have one principle runner for each leg - we would try to match runners of comparable ability (eg lady with lady etc). As many people as want to can run each leg but from the point of view of having "a race" let us keep the time of the principle runners as the race time. Details can be discussed later.
We would probably need a support bus for each team. I need to know how many "volunteers" you are likely to have from Dunbar and how many rooms to book. Last year we stayed at the Inchcree holiday village - this has communal rooms housing upto 8 (for those who have friends) and chalet style rooms housing couples.

2010 sees the 25th Anniversary of Dunfermline first half marathon staged in 1985!
"One of the best if not THE best events of its kind anywhere in the UK!"
The Run Dunfermline 3-day running festival takes place in 2010 over the weekend of 12th/13th of June. Centred on Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline there will be schools events, the short-course race (5K), the centrepiece event: the Dunfermline City Half Marathon and a fun run.
While all the activities are going on outside in the Park, the National Healthy Living and Lifestyle show will be held inside the Glen Pavilion hosting many of the "get active and fit" initiatives, providing something for all the family. Nigel Barge 10k Memorial Road Race (and associated 3k Junior Race)
will not go ahead as advertised this coming Saturday 9th January. Both
events have been postponed, and will instead take place on Saturday
27th March 2010 with the venue still Garscube Sports Complex. Those
who have pre-entered can retain their place for the new date, secure a
place in the 2011 race, or alternatively contact Kenny Stevenson for a

bitterly cold conditions.
On a night when those with less "get up an go" but, arguably, perhaps
a bit more "common sense" were warm indoors getting ready for the
festivities these runners set off on the quick mile and a half course.
The recent snow had left the conditions "good to firm" but nothing was
able to assist the challengers from stopping Grant once again claiming
the coveted "Bun".
