Seventeen members of the club made the journey to Beadnell on Sunday to take part in the popular Northumberland Coastal Race, a 14 mile route over mixed terrain. The race started in 1979 with just 12 competitors and now has over 1000 runners vying to enter the event. The course takes in Dunstanburgh Castle and Craster Village along the route, finishing on the beach at Alnmouth.
Ian Rowland came 21st overall in 1:29:09, with club mate Stuart Hay finishing 40 seconds behind in 25th place. Ian Sills and Graeme Jones finished 1:33:10 and 1:37:11 respectively, with Richard Taylor finishing in 1:41:43. Also competing on the day were Steve Pattison 1:49:05, Brian Davidson 1:51:28, Anne Hay 1:56:38, Neil Teather 1:57:08, Frank Weissgerber 1:57:52, Emma Taylor 1:58:13, Jamie Cherrie 2:05:09, Mary Pattison 2:06:16, Fiona Brewster 2:12:27, Sheila Morrison 2:15:59, Valerie Herring 2:19:51 and Theresa Leslie 2:25:55.
